Volleyball Team Hosts College of Charleston

This Week's Matchups
Clemson (18-8, 9-5 ACC) will play host to the College of Charleston Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Tigers will play at N.C. State Friday at 7:30 p.m. and will conclude the ACC regular season Saturday night at North Carolina.

Clemson took a 3-0 win over the College of Charleston last season. The Cougars lead the series 13-8.

The Tigers defeated N.C. State 3-0 earlier this season in Clemson. The Wolfpack holds a 17-13 advantage in the series.

North Carolina defeated Clemson 3-1 previously this season in Jervey Gym. The Tar Heels lead the series 26-11.

Tigers' Latest Results
The Clemson volleyball team, ranked third in District III, defeated Maryland 3-0 (15-13, 15-13, 15-10) Friday night at Jervey gym.

Junior Alison Coday led Clemson with 24 kills, six assists and 54 errors for a .333 attack percentage. Junior Cindy Stern also hit .333, with 13 kills, three errors and 30 attempts. She had five blocks to lead the team. Junior Skye Frost led the team with 12 digs. Sophomore Melissa Kudelka had 42 assists in the winning effort.

The Tigers defeated Virginia 3-2 (15-9, 15-11, 4-15, 8-15, 13-15) Saturday night at Jervey gym. Head coach Jolene Jordan Hoover broke the record for Clemson volleyball wins, recording her 139th career win. Junior Alison Coday led the Tigers, recording 23 kills, six errors and 58 attempts for a .293 hitting percentage. Cindy Stern had 12 kills in the win, and freshman Jodi Steffes and senior Stephanie Schulz each recorded 11 kills in the matchup. Schulz led the team with nine block assists. Sophomore Missy Kudelka had 55 assists, and led the team with 16 digs.

ACC Notes
Senior Stephanie Schulz was named co-Player-of-the-Week for the week of October 12-19 and Player-of-the-Week for October 20-26...Jodi Steffes earned her second Rookie-of-the-Week honor for the week of October 20-26...Entering last week, Clemson led the ACC with 3.22 blocks per game...The team ranked fourth with a .238 hitting percentage, 13.69 assists and 1.66 service aces per game...Senior middle hitter Stephanie Schulz led the ACC with 1.48 blocks per game and ranked third with a .325 attack percentage...Junior Cindy Stern ranked third with 1.43 blocks per game and was seventh with 3.83 kills per game...Junior Skye Frost led the ACC with 0.52 service aces per game and was third with 3.55 digs per game...The Tigers captured the ACC Championship last season, winning the ACC Tournament in Raleigh, NC. The title was Clemson's first in the 21-year history of the Tiger volleyball program. Clemson's victory also marked the first time in ACC history that the fourth-seeded team won the crown.

Hoover Seeking Coaching Record
Head coach Jolene Jordan Hoover broke the Clemson volleyball career coaching record Saturday versus Virginia, bringing her career total to 139 wins at the helm of the Tiger program. Hoover has a 133-57 record over her six seasons at Clemson and is 232-88 in her nine years as a head coach. Hoover's .725 winning percentage entering the season placed her 17th nationally among Division I head coaches. She ranks third among ACC coaches with 57 league wins. Only one other active ACC coach, Maryland's Janice Kruger, ranks ahead with 79 wins.

Current Tigers Among Career Leaders
With 10 block assists at Duke, senior Stephanie Schulz broke the Clemson career block assists record. Last week she recorded 10 block assists to push her career total to 408. Schulz recorded seven kills at Georgia Tech to become the eighth player in Clemson history to reach the 1,000 career kill mark. She has 1,038 career kills, ranking seventh on Clemson's all-time list.

Junior Cindy Stern is fifth on Clemson's all-time list with 1,145 kills. She passed the 1,000 career kill plateau earlier this season at Maryland. Stern ranks fourth on the career block assists list with 340 block assists and is in sixth place on the career block solos list with 113 block solos.

Junior Alison Coday ranks seventh on Clemson's career leaders list with 1,055 kills. She became the tenth player in Tiger history to tally 1,000 career kills Sunday at Florida State.

Home, Sweet Home
The Tigers are 11-2 in Jervey Gym this season. In the 13 matches, 10,247 fans have come out to watch Clemson, an average of 788 fans per contest. The Tigers currently rank 28th nationally in home attendance. Clemson was 13-2 at home last season. During the 15 home matches, a total of 10,502 fans gathered to watch the Tigers, giving Clemson the 28th-best home attendance figure among all NCAA schools.
