CLEMSON, SC - Jolene Jordan Hoover's 2008 Tiger volleyball team was ranked 19th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason poll, released on Wednesday. Clemson was also listed 19th in the preseason Molten/Volleyball Magazine Media Top 20.
The Tigers will open their season on Aug. 29 as they play host to Syracuse in the 18th Annual Big Orange Bash at Jervey Gym. Jeannette Abbott (OH) and Danielle Hepburn (MH) will begin their senior campaigns having started all 93 matches of their careers. Meanwhile, juniors Didem Ege (L), Kelsey Murphy (S) and Lia Proctor (OH) are entering their third seasons in the starting lineup.
Clemson was the only ACC-member school listed in the top 25. Penn State, the 2007 national champion, received 59 of 60 first-place votes, while Stanford, Texas, Southern California and Cal round out the top five.
