The Clemson Tiger volleyball team defeated the Saint Louis Billikens in the championship match of the Big Orange Bash. The game scores were 15-7, 16-14, and 16-14. This improves the Tigers record to 5-0, as well as their second tournament championship.
Leading the Tigers was sophomore Cindy Stern who was also chosen as MVP of the tournament. Stern knocked down 40 kills, 74 attempts, and a .405 hitting percentage on the three match weekend.
Seniors Jill Heavey and Michelle Thieke were all chosen as all tournament selections. Heavey tallied four service aces, a .230 hitting percentage, and 22 digs. Thieke also had an outstanding weekend leading the team with 133 assists and 24 digs.
The Tigers next match will be Friday, September 12 at 5:30 pm, when they will travel to Southern Methodist University for a three match tournament.
In earlier action, the Tigers defeated the Drexel Dragons by game scores 15-2, 17-15, and 15-2.
