Lady Tigers Open Volleyball Season with Victory

AUBURN, Ala. - Clemson defeated Auburn in five games to open the 1997 Lady Tiger season at Auburn, AL. Clemson lost the first two games of the match 15-10 and 15-5, then came back to sweep the final three by scores of 15-8, 15-8 and 18-16. It was the season opening match for the Lady Tigers, who play Sunday against Pittsburgh at 3:00 PM. That match also will be played at Auburn.

The Lady Tigers were led by Allison Coday, who tallied 22 kills, six blocks and had a hitting percentage of .286. Senior Michelle Thieke recorded 60 assists, 18 digs, while senior Jill Heavey had 15 kills, nine digs and six blocks. Cindy Stern also played well, contributing a .474 hitting percentage in 19 total attempts.
