Rising junior Bethanie Wachna of the Clemson women's track & field program competed last weekend at the Canadian Olympic Trials in the javelin throw. She finished with an outstanding fourth-place showing in front of her hometown fans in Windsor, Ontario.

Wachna recorded a personal best in the preliminary round, then again in the finals. She hit a mark of 151'0" with her fifth throw on Sunday, good enough to earn her a fourth-place finish. While she did not meet an Olympic qualifying standard in the event, Wachna did gain a tremendous amount of experience in international competition.

She finished her sophomore year with the Lady Tiger program in 2008. Wachna was All-ACC in the javelin, finishing third at the conference outdoor meet in April at Georgia Tech. She ranks second on Clemson's all-time performance list in the event.
