Greensboro, NC - The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2007 All-ACC Academic Team for women's track & field on Friday. All 12 schools in the league were represented on the squad, including three from Clemson. Linda Buchholz, Caroline Kennedy, and Liane Weber were all cited for outstanding work in the classroom.
It was a successful year in the classroom for the Lady Tiger track & field program as a whole. Marcia Noad's program boasted a 3.1 GPA for the spring semester, best on record for women's track & field.
Buchholz, majoring in PRTM, earned All-ACC honors at the conference outdoor meet in the javelin throw. She also qualified for regionals in that event. Buchholz was fourth at the ACC Indoor Championships in the pentathlon. After just one season, she ranks in the top five all-time performance areas for Clemson in the pentathlon, heptathlon, indoor high jump, and javelin throw.
Kennedy, a pole vaulter, earned All-ACC honors at the league indoor meet in Clemson this winter. She also scored in the event at the ACC Outdoor Championships and at regionals. In fact, she was just one place away from earning an automatic qualification for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the vault. The native of Orlando, FL is majoring in health science.
Weber earned ACC Indoor Freshman-of-the-Year honors after winning the pentathlon with a school record point total. She went on to also break the school record in the heptathlon, where she finished runner-up at the league meet. Weber participated in both competitions at the NCAA Championships as a freshman. The German native is also a health science major.
