Clemson, SC - Freshman women's track & field athlete April Sinkler has qualified in two events for the USA Junior Championships, which will be held Friday through Sunday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, OH. Sinkler will be competing in both the high jump and long jump.
The Stafford, VA product had a solid first year with the Lady Tiger track & field program. She was a scorer indoors in both events at the ACC Championships, and then qualified for the NCAA East Region Championships in both as well. She earned an All-Region honor after tying for eighth place in the high jump.
Sinkler ranks in a tie for second in school history in the outdoor high jump, owning a season-best clearance of 5'8.75" achieved at the Georgia Tech Invitational. She had a top long jump effort of 19'10.25" at the Orange & Purple Classic, a mark that ranks just outside the school's top five all-time performance list.
The long jump is scheduled for Saturday, June 21 at 2:45 PM. Sinkler will then compete in the high jump at 6:20 PM.
