CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson women's track and field team will compete at the Penn Relays this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Apr. 24-26, at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA. The Lady Tigers are coming off a fourth-place finish at the 2003 ACC Championships, where sophomore Gisele Oliveira set the ACC meet record in the triple jump with a mark of 43'10".

Three Lady Tigers will compete in field events this weekend. Oliveira, the Lady Tigers' all-time leader in the triple jump and the East Region leader, will represent Clemson in the triple jump on Friday at 10:00 AM. Senior Joana Costa, a regional qualifier in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 12'6", will compete in that event on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Junior Katie Pickett has also qualified for the region championships in the high jump with a clearance of 5'7", and will represent the Lady Tigers in the event on Thursday at 10:00 AM.

On the track, Clemson will compete in three relay events and an individual event. Shakirah Rutherford and Silja Ulfarsdottir will also compete in the 400m hurdles, scheduled for Thursday at 10:00 AM. Both Lady Tigers have qualified for the East Region Championships already this season. Shannon Murray, Shakirah Rutherford, Silja Ulfarsdottir and Danielle Whaley will represent the Lady Tigers in the 4x100m relay on Thursday at 12:40 PM, while Denise Cruse, Lauren Nicholson, Shakirah Rutherford and Danielle Whaley will compete in the 4x200m relay on Friday at 1:20 PM. Clemson will also compete in the shuttle hurdle relay on Friday at 2:30 PM, as Marquita Dortch, Keshia Haughton, Lauren Nicholson and Silja Ulfarsdottir compete for the Lady Tigers.
