Jennifer Barton will help lead things off this weekend in the steeplechase

CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson women's track and field team will host the 2003 Clemson Invitational this weekend at the Rock Norman Track Complex. The Lady Tigers will face a field that includes teams from Appalachian State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Iowa State and Miami (Ohio). Saturday's meet will begin with the women's pole vault and javelin throw at 11:15 AM. The first running event scheduled for the women is the 3000m steeplechase slated for 1:15 PM. On the track, the Lady Tigers will begin competition with Jennifer Barton, Erica Jaros and Laura Ann Rukat in the steeplechase. The Lady Tigers' 4x100m relay team will compete at 1:40 PM, followed by Jennifer Barton and Casey Phillips in the 1500m at 2:10 PM. The 100m hurdles will feature Clemson's Marquita Dortch, Keshia Haughton and Ramera Nero at 2:30 PM, followed by Silja Ulfarsdottir, Denise Cruse, Shakirah Rutherford and Angela Thomas in the 400m at 2:50 PM. The 100m dash is scheduled for 3:20, and will feature Shannon Murray, Danielle Whaley and Ramera Nero. Laura Ann Rukat, Jennifer Barton and LaToya Woodberry will compete in the 800m at 3:40 PM, and Shakirah Rutherford, Silja Ulfarsdottir, Angela Thomas, Marquita Dortch and Katrina Moultrie will take to the track for the 400m hurdles at 4:10 PM. At 4:30 PM, the 200m dash will include Clemson's Danielle Whaley, Shannon Murray, Denise Cruse and Lauren Nicholson. Casey Phillips and Jennifer Hooten will contest the 5000m, then the Lady Tigers' 4x400m relay team will conclude the meet at 5:35 PM.

The field events will begin at 11:15 AM with Joana Costa in the pole vault, and the javelin throw will be contested at the same time, featuring Clemson's Krystal Woods, Elizabeth Lord and Keshia Haughton. The long jump is scheduled for 1:15 PM, and Ramera Nero, Kellie Sutton, Angela Thomas, Katrina Moultrie, Lauren Nicholson, Dacia Sexton, Joana Costa and Gisele Oliveira are slated to compete. The Lady Tigers' Allison Bradshaw, Elizabeth Lord, Mary Gosselin and Krystal Woods will represent Clemson in the discus throw at 2:30 PM, and Lauren Nicholson, Katrina Moultrie, Dacia Sexton, Kellie Sutton, Gisele Oliveira and Reah Nicholson will compete in the triple jump at 3:15 PM. The high jump is scheduled for 3:30 PM, and Clemson's Gisele Oliveira and Lauren Nicholson are slated to compete in that event. At 4:00 PM, Mary Gosselin, Allison Bradshaw and Lauren Nicholson will compete in the shot put, the final field event scheduled for the meet.

The Clemson Invitational will also feature seven elementary schools competing in the annual Clemson Elementary Relays. This week's third, fourth and fifth-grade teams are from Clemson Elementary, Code Elementary, Fair Oak Elementary, James M. Brown Elementary, Fair Oak Elementary, Walhalla Elementary and Westminster Elementary. The 8x75 yard relay for the third-graders is scheduled for 1:50 PM, the fourth-grade race will begin at 3:00 PM, and the fifth-graders will compete at 3:50 PM.
