Clemson Women Fourth at Commodore Classic

Nashville, TN - The women's cross country team traveled to Percy Warner Park for the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University and came home with a fourth-place finish Saturday. The Lady Tigers scored 102 points, finishing behind Missouri (50), Georgia Tech (55), and Vanderbilt (59). Jenna Baker, a freshman from Bellevue, OH, once again led the Lady Tigers in the individual standings. She finished in 14th place with a 5K time of 18:43. She was fourth a week ago at the Seahawk Invitational in Wilmington, NC. Laura Laughlin was close behind in 17th, as she crossed the finish line in a time of 18:55.01. In her first-ever action in a Clemson uniform, South Carolina native Stephanie Buffo performed well. She had a time of 19:01.30 and finished in 20th place. Finishing as the team's #4 scorer was also a freshman, Abby Iselborn. Her time was 19:09.37. Sunday Ford, a junior, was 28th in the meet with a time of 19:22.26. Joanie Castagno and Jill Yandle just missed scoring for the Lady Tigers. Castagno posted a time of 19:50.44 and finished 40th, while Yandle was 42nd after crossing the finish line in 19:51.96. Clemson will return to action in two weeks for the East Carolina Invitational. The meet will be held September 29 in Greenville, NC.
