ATLANTA - The women's track and field teamed wrapped up competition at the ACC Championships on Saturday, picking up the league's seventh spot with 39.5 points. Host Georgia Tech edged the Tigers by half a point for sixth place. The Tigers improved from last season, when they finished eighth.
Polly Hardy led the Tigers with a fifth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles, clocking in at 13.72, an NCAA regional qualifying mark. It marked the second consecutive season Hardy has placed fifth at the ACC Outdoor Championships.
Patricia Mamona finished runner-up in the triple jump to FSU's Kimberly Williams. Mamona put in a jump of 43' 4 ½" to pick up eight points for the squad. The distance was second best in Clemson history, improving her own mark by two inches. It is Mamona's fifth All-ACC performance in her career. She has finished runner-up for the third consecutive ACC meet, including indoors, where she finished runner-up in 2008.
The Tigers will return to action on April 25, when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Penn Relays.
