Clemson Women's Track And Field Completes Competition At Day One Of ACC Championships
April 16, 2004 CHAPEL HILL, NC - After the first day of competition at the 2004 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Clemson women's track and field team is in seventh place with 21 points. Only seven points separate the fourth through seventh-place teams entering the final day of competition. The Lady Tigers qualified seven for finals on Saturday, and Gisele Oliveira earned All-ACC honors with a third-place finish in the long jump.
In the 100m, Jessica Cousins crossed the finish line in 12.24 and Danielle Whaley recorded a time of 12.66. Randi Hinton advanced to the finals of the 200m with a time of 24.24. Jessica Cousins recorded a time of 24.38 and Danielle Whaley posted a time of 25.49. Silja Ulfarsdottir qualified for the finals of the 400m dash with a season-best and regional qualifying time of 53.84, the fourth-fastest time in the preliminaries. Randi Hinton also competed in the 400m, clocking a season-best 55.55, and Jessica Cousins ran a 55.88. In the 800m, Sudati Masasu recorded a season-best time of 2:11.27 to qualify for Saturday's final, and Patrice McMillan recorded a time of 2:14.97. Casey Phillips ran a personal-best time of 4:31.97 to advance to the finals of the 1500m. Christina Smith advanced to the finals of the 100m hurdles with a season-best time of 14.09. Jelyn Quick recorded a time of 14.41 and Marquita Dortch posted a time of 14.96. Silja Ulfarsdottir and Christina Smith both qualified for the finals of the 400m hurdles, posting times of 58.79 and 1:00.04, respectively. Jelyn Quick finished the 400m hurdles in 1:03.36 and Shakirah Rutherford recorded a time of 1:03.36. Jennifer Barton completed the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:17.55.
In the high jump, Katie Pickett recorded a clearance of 5'7" to place fifth and Felicia Hawthorne recorded a mark of 5'1.75". Sara Young cleared a season-best and regional qualifying height of 12'7.5" in the pole vault to finish fourth in the event. Beth Jordan recorded a mark of 10'11.75" to place 12th. Gisele Oliveira earned All-ACC honors in the long jump with a third-place finish and mark of 20'2.5". Katrina Moultrie also scored for the Lady Tigers in the long jump with an eighth-place finish and leap of 19'1.25". Krystal Woods posted a mark of 132'4" in the discus to finish 12th. In the hammer throw, Della Clark recorded a mark of 160'10" to finish sixth, and Krystal Woods was also a scorer for the Lady Tigers with a seventh-place finish and throw of 152'8". Allison Bradshaw posted a mark of 139'5" in the event.
