STANFORD, CA - Clemson women's tennis freshman Alix Lacelarie will compete in the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championships to be held at Stanford's Taube Tennis Center May 20-25. Lacelarie will face Georgia's Mariel Verban in the first round match initially scheduled for Monday, May 20. The match has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 21, at 11:30 a.m. (PT) due to a rain-out of Monday's matches.

Lacelarie, a native of Villeneuve-Les-Beziers, France, was the Tigers' top seed in 2002. She posted an overall singles record of 26-12 and was 6-2 in the ACC at the number one singles flight. With Laurence Jayet, Lacelarie recorded a 21-11 overall doubles record, and the duo was 5-3 in the conference as the Tigers' top doubles tandem.

This will be the first meeting between Lacelarie and Verban. Lacelarie entered the 2002 Championships with a #32 ranking, while Verban holds a #38 ranking. During the regular season, Lacelarie defeated six ranked singles players, and lost to two top-10 ranked players in three sets. She posted an 11-match consecutive singles winning streak from Mar. 9-Apr. 12. During that time, Lacelarie defeated four ranked players.
