CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Clemson women's tennis players Ani Mijacika and Josipa Bek advanced to the second round of play at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships with wins on Thursday. The round of 16 matches will begin on Friday at 10:00 am from the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, VA. The University of Virginia is serving as host of this year's event.

Mijacika, the number-two seeded player in the tournament, defeated Kelcy McKenna of Arizona State by a 6-2, 7-6 margin early on Thursday afternoon. She will face Furman's Laura Gioia in the round of 16.

Bek knocked off eighth-seeded Melanie Gloria of Fresno State to extend her winning streak to eight straight. Gloria won a hard-fought first set, 7-6(5) before the rookie from Osijek, Croatia rebounded to post 6-3 and 6-4 decisions in the second and third sets, respectively.
