39th-Ranked Tigers Fall To #7 North Carolina In Women's Tennis, 5-2

CHAPEL HILL, NC - The 39th-ranked Clemson women's tennis team fell to the seventh-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels on Friday afternoon in Chapel Hill by a score of 5-2. The Tar Heels improve to 19-3 and 7-0 in the ACC, while the Tigers fall to 13-8, (5-2 in the ACC). In doubles play, Clemson's 26th-ranked duo of Laurence Jayet and Alix Lacelarie defeated North Carolina's Marlene Mejia and Julie Rotondi, 8-3, at the number one position. The Tigers' Anna Dolinska and Anna Savitskaya fell at number two doubles to 36th-ranked Aniela Mojzis and Kendall Cline of the Tar Heels, 8-1. Richele LeSaldo and Milena Stanoycheva of Clemson lost an 8-2 decision to North Carolina's team of Lee Bairos and Kate Pinchbeck at flight three.
In singles action, Clemson's 47th-ranked Alix Lacelarie was
victorious over 28th-ranked Marlene Mejia of North Carolina,
7-6(7-1), 6-2 at flight one. At number two singles, #102 Anna
Savitskaya of Clemson fell to 27th-ranked Tar Heel Kate Pinchbeck,
6-1, 6-2. The Tigers' Ana Stiglic lost a 6-3, 6-2 decision at flight
three singles to #64 Julie Rotondi of North Carolina. At flight four
singles, Clemson's Laurence Jayet fell to the Tar Heels' Aniela
Mojzis, 6-2, 6-2. Tiger Ioana Paun was defeated by Lee Bairos of
North Carolina by a score of 6-2, 4-6, (10-7) at number five singles.
At flight six singles, Clemson senior Milena Stanoycheva defeated
North Carolina's Kendall Cline, 2-6, 6-2, (10-4).
The Tigers will complete their final regular season ACC match on Saturday as they travel to Durham, NC to take on the fifth-ranked Duke Blue Devils. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. North Carolina 5, Clemson 2
