Georgia Tech Defeats Clemson In ACC Women's Tennis Action

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeated the Clemson Tigers 5-2 in ACC women's tennis action Tuesday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. With the loss, Clemson drops to 8-11 overall and 1-5 in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets won four of the six singles matches and claimed the crucial doubles point to record the win. At one singles, Clemson's Anna Savitskaya lost a three-set (0-6, 6-4, 7-6) decision to Georgia Tech's Debbie Reynolds, and Jaime Wong defeated the Tigers' second-seeded Christina Oldock 6-3, 7-5. The Tigers' Milena Stanoycheva defeated Mysti Morris 7-6, 6-4, at three singles, while Ana Stiglic defeated the Yellow Jackets Bobbie Guthrie 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 at four singles. Georgia Tech's Mason Miller defeated fifth-seeded Anna Dolinska 6-0, 6-0 and the Yellow Jackets' Laura Ozolins won a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 decision over Laurence Jayet at six singles. Clemson's Jayet and Savitskaya slid by Tech's Morris and Guthrie 8-6 at one doubles, while the Yellow Jackets' second-seeded team of Ozolins and Wong defeated Oldock and Stiglic, 8-3. The Tigers' Dolinska and Stanoycheva lost an 8-6 decision to M. Miller and Koon at three doubles. Clemson continues ACC play on Saturday as the Tigers host North Carolina at 11:00 a.m. at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
