Florida State Downs Clemson In Women's Tennis Action

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Florida State Seminoles defeated the Clemson Tigers 5-2 in ACC women's tennis action Sunday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. With the loss, Clemson drops to 8-10 overall and 1-4 in the ACC. The Seminoles won four of the six singles matches and claimed the doubles point to record the win. At one singles, Clemson's Anna Savitskaya lost a 6-1, 6-1 decision to FSU's Alida Gallovits and Samantha Schoeffel defeated the Tigers' second-seeded Christina Oldock 6-0, 6-1. The Tigers' Milena Stanoycheva defeated Jessica Balbuena 6-3, 6-4 at three singles while Ana Stiglic defeated FSU's Christina Denny 6-3, 6-0 at four singles. Florida State's Nanette Duxin defeated fifth-seeded Laurence Jayet 6-4, 6-2 and Marina Raic won a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Anna Dolinska at six singles. FSU's Schoeffel and Balbuena defeated Jayet and Dolinska 8-2 at one doubles while the Seminoles' second-seeded team of Duxin and Gallovits slid by Oldock and Stiglic, 9-7. The Tigers won at number three doubles as Stanoycheva and Savitskaya defeated Raic and Carratala, 8-6. Clemson continues ACC play on Tuesday as the Tigers host Georgia Tech at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
