44th-Ranked Clemson Women's Tennis Defeats #73 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, FL - The 44th-ranked Clemson women's tennis team defeated #73 Florida State on Sunday in Tallahassee by a score of 4-3. With the win, the Tigers improve to 13-7, and 5-1 in the ACC, while the Seminoles fall to 11-13 (2-6 in the ACC). In doubles play, Florida State earned the doubles point, winning at the number one and two positions. At flight one doubles, Clemson's 26th-ranked duo of Laurence Jayet and Alix Lacelarie were defeated by Jessica Balbuena and Lauren Walker of Florida State, 9-8(3). The Tigers' Anna Dolinska and Anna Savitskaya lost an 8-1 decision to Florida State's Christina Denny and Alida Gallovits at number two doubles. Clemson's Richele LeSaldo and Milena Stanoycheva earned a win at number three doubles over Beth Lawrence and Anca Dumitrescu by a score of 8-4.
In singles action, Clemson's 47th-ranked Alix Lacelarie
defeated 42nd-ranked Anca Dumitrescu of Florida State in three sets,
6-1, 4-6, 6-1, at flight one. The Tigers' Anna Savitskaya (#102) was
victorious over Seminole Alida Gallovits at number two singles by a
score of 7-6, 6-4. Ana Stiglic of Clemson won a 6-3, 6-2 decision
over Jessica Balbuena at the three singles position. Clemson's
Laurence Jayet was defeated by Christina Denny of the Seminoles at
flight four singles, 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-1. At number five singles, Tiger
Ioana Paun fell to Lauren Walker of Florida State, 6-4, 6-2. Clemson
senior Milena Stanoycheva was victorious at number six singles, over
the Seminoles' Meredith Fish, 6-2, 6-0.
The Tigers will complete their final two ACC regular season matches next weekend as they travel to Chapel Hill to take on North Carolina on Fri., Apr. 12 at 2:30 p.m. Clemson will then travel to Durham to take on the Duke Blue Devils on Sat., Apr. 13.
