April 4, 1998

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- The Clemson women defeated ACC rival North Carolina 6-3 in a intercollegiate tennis match at Chapel Hill, NC on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Tigers inprove to 2-2 in the ACC an 6-8 overall while the Tarheels fall to 5-12 overall and 1-3 n conference play.

North Carolina won the first two singles matches with Jessica Zagangrok defeating Etresia Krugar 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 and Cena Hackler winning over Stephanie Woerz 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The Tigers took control and won the final four singles matches. Christina Oldock defeated Sarah Hawkins 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, and in number four singles Catherine Galvin defeated Courtney Zaunski 6-3, 6-1. Tiger Devrin Carr took the number five singles winning over Erin Niedling 6-1, 6-1, and Kate-Maree Mair defeated Jeni Burnette 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

The Tigers are in action again Sunday, April 5 at Durham, NC versus Duke.
