Clemson Women's Tennis Defeats #43 Maryland, 5-2

CLEMSON, SC -- The 53rd-ranked Clemson women's tennis team defeated the #43 Maryland Terrapins by a score of 5-2 on Saturday morning in Clemson. With the win, the Tigers improve to 10-7 overall, and 2-1 in the ACC. Maryland falls to 9-5 (1-1 in the ACC). In doubles play, Clemson won all three matches to earn the doubles point. The Tigers' 31st-ranked duo of Laurence Jayet and Alix Lacelarie defeated Maryland's #58 team of Delila Causevic and Emily Marker by a score of 8-4 at number one doubles. At flight two doubles, Clemson's Anna Dolinska and Anna Savitskaya were victorious over Emily DeCamilla and Marta Jedrzejak of Maryland, 8-4. The Tigers' Richele LeSaldo and Milena Stanoycheva won an 8-4 decision over the Terrapins' Chloe Chavardes and Pamela Floro at the number three doubles position. In singles action, Clemson's Lacelarie, currently ranked #83 by the ITA, was victorious over #38 Causevic of Maryland, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(9-7) at the number one position. At flight two singles, the Tigers' Savitskaya defeated #85 Marker of the Terrapins in three sets, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. Jayet of Clemson fell to the Terrapins' Floro at number three singles, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. Clemson's Ana Stiglic was defeated at number four singles, falling to Jedrzejak of Maryland by a score of 6-4, 6-3. The Tigers' Ioana Paun won a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 decision over DeCamilla at flight five singles. Stanoycheva of Clemson was victorious at the six singles position, defeating Maryland's Chavardes by a score of 7-5, 6-4. The Tigers will play host to Virginia on Sunday morning at
