Clemson Women's Tennis Defeats South Florida 5-2

RALEIGH, N.C. - The 55th-ranked Clemson women's tennis team defeated the 49th-ranked South Florida Bulls 5-2 at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts in Tampa, FL. The Tigers improve to 7-8 while the Bulls drop to 3-10 overall.

Clemson's Anna Savitskaya lost a third set tiebreaker as she lost 4-6, 6-1, 6-7 to the Bulls' Tina Harrison at one singles while the Tiger's Christina Oldock defeated USF's Jennifer Sinclair 7-5, 6-4 at two singles. The Tigers' Milena Stanoycheva defeated South Florida's Genevieve Houle, 7-5, 6-1 at the three singles position while Clemson's Laurence defeated Natalie Schwartz in another three-set battle, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 at the four slot. Ana Stiglic defeated South Florida's Ashlee Callahan 7-5, 6-2 at five singles while the Bulls' Ildiko Zubor defeated Clemson's Anna Dolinska 6-3, 6-4 at six singles.

Clemson won two out of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Clemson's Stiglic and Oldock teamed up at two doubles to defeat Houle and Schwartz, 8-5. The Tigers' Savitskaya and Stanoycheva picked up the other doubles win for Clemson with an 8-2 victory over Nieto and Romero. USF's top-seeded duo of Harrison and Sinclair defeated Clemson's Dolinska and Jayet 8-4.

Clemson is idle until Mar. 31 when the Tigers host the University of Virginia in an 11:00 a.m. match at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
