Women's Tennis Falls To #6 Wake Forest, 5-2

CLEMSON, SC -- The Clemson women's tennis team fell to the sxith-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Friday afternoon by a score of 5-2. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 4-6 on the season (0-1 in the ACC) and Wake Forest improves to 11-1 (1-0 in the ACC). In doubles action, Wake Forest won two of the three matches to earn the doubles point. Clemson's number one doubles team of Laurence Jayet and Alix Lacelarie fell to the #1-ranked team of Bea Bielik and Janet Bergman by a score of 8-0. At flight two doubles, Anna Dolinska and Anna Savitskaya of Clemson combined to defeat Wake Forest's Karin Coatzee and Maren Haus, 8-2. The Tigers' Milena Stanoycheva and Ana Stiglic fell to the Demon Deacons' Katie Martzolf and Danielle Schwartz by a score of 8-4 at the number three doubles position. In singles play, Tiger Alix Lacelarie was defeated by
first-ranked Bea Bielik, 6-0, 6-2, at the number one position. Anna
Savitskaya earned a victory for Clemson at flight two singles,
defeating the Demon Deacon's Katie Martzolf in three sets, 2-6, 6-4,
6-4. Ioana Paun of Clemson fell to 19th-ranked Janet Bergman at
number three singles by a score of 6-4, 7-5. At the four singles
slot, Clemson's Ana Stiglic lost a three-set match to Maren Haus of
Wake Forest, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Tiger Laurence Jayet lost a 6-2, 6-3
decision to Wake Forest's Karin Coatzee at number five singles. At
flight six singles, Clemson's Milena Stanoycheva was victorious over
Demon Deacon Elizabeth Proctor by a score of 6-3, 6-2.
The Tigers will take on the N.C. State Wolfpack Saturday at noon in Clemson.
