CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson women's soccer team will travel to College Park, MD on Thursday night to face the University of Maryland. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Ludwig Field on the Terrapins' campus.
Thursday's game in College Park will be Clemson's third of four consecutive road games in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tigers are 5-9-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the ACC. Last week, the team fell to two nationally-ranked opponents on the road, dropping a 4-0 decision at #6 Florida State and a 6-0 decision at #11 Duke.
Julie Bolt leads Clemson in scoring with nine goals and one assist for 19 points on the season. The senior forward ranks fourth in the ACC in goals per game (0.69), sixth in points per game (1.46) and in a tie for seventh in goals (9). Junior midfielder Molly Franklin ranks second on the team in scoring with eight points on two goals and a team-high four assists. Sophomore Paula Pritzen has posted 75 saves in over 1321 minutes in goal for Clemson.
Maryland has a 6-10-1 overall record and a 2-7 mark in conference play. The Terrapins defeated N.C. State 2-1 and fell to Boston College 1-0 in their previous two contests. Senior Kaila Sciascia and freshman Lydia Hastings lead Maryland in scoring with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Junior Mary Casey has recorded 42 saves in goal for the Terrapins.
The Terrapins have a 9-8-1 advantage in the overall series, which began in the 1994 season. The Tigers have won two consecutive games, including a 1-0 double-overtime victory at Riggs Field in 2007. Current Tiger senior defender Molly Johnson headed in the golden goal in the 106th minute to give Clemson the victory last year.
