Clemson Defeats Missouri, 4-1

LEXINGTON, KY -- Lissa Mansberry and Sheri Bueter both scored goals and were credited with one assist each in Clemson's 4-1 win over Missouri in the Kentucky Women's Soccer Invitational at Lexington, KY Sunday afternoon.

Clemson is now 2-0 on the year having beaten Kentucky 2-0 on Friday night. Michigan was declared the champion because the Wolverines scored more goals in the tournament as they defeated Missouri 5-1 on Friday and Kentucky 2-0 today for a total of seven goals. Clemson scored six goals in the tournament.

The Lady Tigers are ranked eighth by Soccer America and 20th by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll. Missouri drops to 0-2 on the season.

Mansberry opened the scoring for Clemson at the 5:59 mark with assists by Libby King and Allison Burpee.

Freshman Julie Augustyniak scored an unassisted goal with 16:35 gone into the match on a break-away with a shot that went over Missouri's goalkeeper Liz LaTour and to the far post.

Jennifer Crawford scored at the 25:16 point into the game from a cross by Bueter.

Bueter scored early in the second half (51:09) from an assist by Mansberrymaking the score 4-0.

Missouri scored at the 85:02 mark as Kristin Boeker scored with an assist by Nikki Thole.

Clemson will play at Davidson Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Tigers' first home game will be Saturday night as the Lady Tigers entertain Duke at 7:00 p.m.
