CLEMSON, SC -- The number one ranked North Carolina Women's Soccer Team shut out Clemson 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Rigg's Field. North Carolina improved its record to 17-0-1 overall, 5-0 in the ACC, while the Lady Tigers fell to 11-5 on the season and 4-3 in the ACC.
The Tar Heels were led by senior Robin Confer who scored a hat trick for North Carolina. Confer's three goals were the most goals scored by a single player against Clemson in a single game.
North Carolina's first goal came at the 12:01 mark with Confer heading in the ball from 10 yards out. The goal came on a double assist from Cindy Parlow and Raven McDonald. Confer went on to score two more goals at the 28:41 and 31:42 marks of the first half. North Carolina scored its fourth goal at the 41:50 mark when Lorrie Fair stole the ball from a Clemson defender and drove in uncontested. Lady Tar Heel Cindy Parlow finished the day with two assists.
Clemson's next game will be next Friday at 1:00 pm as they travel to Athens, GA to take on Massachusetts. The next home game will be next Saturday at 7:00 pm as the Lady Tigers will close out the regular season against Butler.
