WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Jenny Crawford scored two goals to lead 12th-ranked Clemson to a 2-0 victory over No. 18 Wake Forest Wednesday night at Spry Stadium.
Crawford got the Tigers on the scoreboard when she scored directly off her own corner kick at 28:37 in the first half. She added an insurance goal with just two minutes remaining in the game, scoring off a deflected shot by teammate Sara Burkett.
Clemson goalkeeper Suzanne Putnam made four saves to earn her fourth solo shutout of the year.
The game was even throughout, but Wake Forest could not take advantage of several scoring opportunities. The Tigers took nine shots to eight for the Demon Deacons, while both teams were awarded five corner kicks.
Clemson improves to 10-3, including a 3-2 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Wake Forest drops to 8-5-1, 1-4 in the ACC.
The Deacons return to action on Sunday, when they visit Davidson in a non-conference matchup at 3:30 p.m.
