Box Score

TALLAHASSEE, FL - The Tiger women's soccer team fell to sixth-ranked Florida State on Thursday night by a score of 4-0. With the loss, Clemson falls to 5-8-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while the Seminoles improve to 13-2-1 (7-1 ACC).

Sanna Talonen put the Seminoles on the board in the third minute of the game with a goal that was assisted by Casey Short. Florida State scored on a penalty kick in the 21st minute when Tiger defender Molly Johnson was called for a foul in the box. The Seminoles scored again at 36:52 to take a 3-0 lead into halftime and put their fourth goal on the board in the 88th minute.

For the game, Clemson took 10 shots to Florida State's 21 and the Tigers had seven corner kicks to the Seminoles' six. Sophomore Paula Pritzen recorded 10 saves in goal for Clemson while Kate Milstead posted three for Florida State.

"There is a reason why they are the number six team in the country," said head coach Hershey Strosberg. "They have a consistent attack and can come at you in a variety of ways. Some of our choices made it easier on them tonight.

"There seems to be a process that our team has to go through in order to grow and we simply need to keep our focus on improving individually and as a team. Part of that is becoming a better team. The girls continue to fight hard, but you need to have more than that to win in this conference."

Clemson will play it's second of four consecutive ACC road contests on Sunday in Durham, NC. The Tigers will face 11th-ranked Duke at 2:00 p.m. at the Blue Devils' Koskinen Stadium.
