Women's Soccer Holds On To Defeat Terrapins, 1-0
Oct. 13, 2000 Clemson, SC - The #5 ranked Clemson Lady Tiger women's soccer team got an unassisted goal from freshman Alison Sinclair as they held off the Maryland Terrapins 1-0 tonight October 13 at Historic Riggs Field. Clemson improves to 14-1 overall and 4-1 in the ACC. Maryland on the other hand drops their fifth straight ACC game to open the season (0-5), as they fall to 6-8 on the year. Freshman Alison Sinclair scored her first career goal as a Lady Tiger at the 51:58 mark. She stripped a Terrapin defender of the ball and immediately sent a 25-yard shot over the head of the Maryland keeper, who was playing well off her line. The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie at half as Clemson did not allow a Maryland shot on goal until 30 seconds remained in the game. Clemson will be in action again this Tuesday, October 17 when they will play host to ACC-rival Wake Forest. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
