Women's Soccer Beats Kentucky for Fifth Win in a Row

Clemson, SC --The Clemson women's soccer team defeated the Lady Wildcats 3-2 Saturday night, October 3, at Historic Riggs Field, in the fourth and final match of the 1998 ACC/SEC Challenge. The win was Clemson's fifth in a row, and the Lady Tigers improve to 7-3 this season. The loss was Kentucky's third straight as they fall to 3-5-2 overall. The Lady Tigers scored three straight goals in the first half before Kentucky answered. Sara Burkett took a long cross from Sheri Beuter and volleyed it into the goal past Kentucky keeper Carrie Kuhnell at the 18:11 mark. Beth Keller was also credited with an assist. Nancy Augustyniak beat Kuhnell with 27:32 gone in the game. Keller then scored the Lady Tigers third goal just before the half on a feed form Burkett. The Lady Wildcats socred the following two goals to close out the scoring. Deanna Stayton beat Clemson goalie Katie Carson at the 49:12 mark. She was assisted by Susan Ledzianowski.
