"Community Service is a great way to influence other yong athletes or non-athletes. I came to Clemson because I loved the tradition and atmosphere, not to be a student athlete. So, when I got the chance to become a Division I athlete, I jumped on the chance. I took the opportunity no only because I love being competitive, but also because I wanted to be a student athlete, I wanted to be one of “them.” So now, I view community service as a way not only to help the local community that surrounds the University that I live on, but a way to teach others that it is possible to do something that you love, but that you never dreamed you could do. Clemson University Athletics and the rowing program have influenced me in many ways, several that I take for granted everyday. Most importantly, my coaches and teammates gave taught me how to make a more productive person and also to become someone who sets goals and works hard to achieve them. I hope that I will be fortunate enough to pass along the things that I have learned to others."
