Carson, CA - Clemson freshman Mitch Greeley finished second in the pole vault at the 2005 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships. In Thursday's final, Greeley finished second with a mark of 16'8.75". His effort was good enough to earn a spot on Team USA's roster for the upcoming Pan American Junior Championships, held July 28-31 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

"Mitch did a great job," said Jarrett Foster, field events coach at Clemson. "It was an outdoor personal best for him. He got the job done when it was time to get it done."

Greeley was an All-ACC honoree in both indoor and outdoor as a freshman in 2005. The Rock Hill, SC native had a high mark this past season of 16'8.75", which he accomplished indoors at the Notre Dame Invitational in February. His top outdoor mark during the 2005 season was 16'6.75" at the ACC Championships.
