Clemson men's track & field athlete Danny Alge was named to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District team on Thursday. Alge was a first-team selection by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), thus making him eligible for Academic All-America honors. CoSIDA will announce the Academic All-America team selections for men's track & field on Tuesday, June 20.

This is the second straight year Alge has been honored by some organization for his academic efforts. Last season, the Summerville, SC native was an All-Academic honoree by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Alge, who graduated magna cum laude from Clemson with a degree in biosystems engineering (emphasis in applied biotechnology) on May 12, was also a standout field event athlete this season with the Tiger track & field squad. He competed at last weekend's NCAA East Region Championships and recorded his best-ever mark in the hammer throw at 201'7". The mark ranks second in school history in that event. Alge also ranks in the top five in Clemson history in the indoor weight throw.
