ATLANTA, GA - The Clemson men's track and field team posted five regional qualifying performances at this weekend's Georgia Tech Invitational. Itay Magidi and the Tigers' 4x400m relay team led Clemson, as they turned in times that guaranteed them inclusion in the East Region Championships to be held May 27-28 in Randalls Island, NY. Magidi qualified in the 1500m run with a season-best time of 3:44.17. The sophomore from Yavne, Israel, is also a regional qualifier in the 3000m steeplechase. The Tigers' 4x400m relay team of Roy Cheney, Michael Bolling, Ronald Richards and Rashad Gardner crossed the finish line with a season-best time of 3:07.75 to gain entry to the region meet.

Matt Clark, Ryan Fenton, Roy Cheney and Scott Kautz also turned in season-best performances. Clark recorded a season-best time of 3:53.74 in the 1500m run, while Fenton posted a time of 9:16.96 in the 3000m steeplechase. Cheney clocked a season-best time of 13.95 in the 110m hurdles, and Kautz ran a 50.82 in the 400m hurdles.

Other top-five performances by the Tigers included marks from Mitch Greeley, George Kitchens and Jason Bell. Greeley cleared 16'0.75" in the pole vault to place fifth among collegiate competitors, and Kitchens finished third among collegians in the long jump with a mark of 23'11.75". Bell posted his fourth regional qualifying mark of the season in the triple jump, placing fourth among collegiate athletes with a leap of 50'1.25".

The Clemson men's track and field team will return to action on May 27-28 as the Tigers compete at the East Region Championships.
