The Clemson men's track & field team will travel to Atlanta, GA to take part in the Georgia Tech Invitational at the George C. Griffin Track Complex on Friday and Saturday. The meet will be Clemson's last chance to qualify individuals for the East Region Championships, which will be held in Greensboro, NC on May 26-27.
Kicking off Clemson's action on Friday will be freshman George Fields in the long jump at 7:00 PM. Fields has already qualified for regionals by virtue of his mark of 24'9.75" in that event. At 8:00, Itay Magidi and Will Noble will compete in the 1500m run. Magidi has qualified in the 3000m steeplechase. Running in that event for the Tigers on Friday will be Sean Reilly.
Danny Alge will compete in the hammer throw on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. Alge also has posted regional marks in that event. At 3:00 PM, Roy Cheney and Lydell Perry will compete in the 110m hurdle trials. Cheney has qualified for regionals. Travis Padgett, who ran a personal best 10.34 at Georgia Tech earlier this season, will compete in the 100m prelims at 4:25. At 5:00, regional qualifier Jason Bell looks to better his mark of 51'5.75".
Brian Knapp hopes to qualify for regionals in the 800m at 5:25. The senior is just shy of posting the required time in that event. Cowin Mills will run in both the 200m and 400m on Saturday. Joining him in the 200m at 9:00 PM will be Padgett. The 400m will take place at 7:00. Cheney and Perry will be joined by Andy Porter and Rashad Gardner in the 400m intermediate hurdles at 8:10 PM. Several Tigers are close to hitting regional marks in that event.
