The Clemson track and field teams will compete in the inaugural Solid Orange Classic on Saturday at the Rock Norman Track and Field Complex. The meet will feature Clemson, College of Charleston, Davidson, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Furman, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Lees-McRae, Morris, Oglethorpe and Western Carolina. Saturday's meet will get underway at 10:00 AM with the men's hammer and women's javelin competitions. The running events are slated to begin at 1:00 PM with the men's shuttle hurdle relay. This will be the final meet for the Clemson track and field teams prior to the ACC Championships, which begin April 21 in Tallahassee, FL.
Included in the women's field are the following Clemson track and field athletes. In the 100m dash, Danielle Whaley will compete for the Lady Tigers, and she will be joined in the 200m dash by teammates Jessica Earp, Tia Perry, Sybil Sobanjo and Silja Ulfarsdottir. Patrice McMillan and LaToya Woodberry will contest the 800m, and Casey Phillips will run in the 1500m field. Earp, Polly Hardy, Sierra Hill, Renata Miyamoto, Perry and Ulfarsdottir will represent Clemson in the 100m hurdles, and Jennifer Barton will take to the track in the 3000m steeplechase. In the field events, Tia Perry will compete in the long jump, while Miyamoto and Rogers are slated to compete in the triple jump. Felicia Hawthorne and Anni Korhonen will look to improve on their previous season-bests in the high jump. Six Lady Tigers will take part in the pole vault competition, including Becky Adnot, Mary Armstrong, Beth Jordan, Helen Kirkland, Kristin Thompson and Sara Young. The shot put field will include Clemson's Allison Bradshaw, Della Clark and Jessica Earp, and Bradshaw and Clark will be joined by Mikaela Patterson, Catheryne Porter and Krystal Woods in the hammer throw. Patterson, Porter and Woods will also compete in the javelin throw, and Christina Moore and Woods will contest the javelin.
For the Clemson men's team, Darius Acker, Michael Bolling, Ryan Koontz and Kyle Shaw will compete in the 200m, and Cowin Mills will represent the Tigers in the 400m. In the 800m, Brian Soder will look to post one of the Tigers' season-best times in that event, while five Tigers compete in the 1500m, including Greg Isaacs, Clay Pendleton, Sean Reilly, Brian Soder and Eric Soder. Eric Soder is also scheduled to compete in the 5000m. In the hurdles, Arthur Hinton and Lydell Perry will compete in the 110m hurdles, and Scott Kautz will contest the 400m hurdles. In the field events, Brent Hobbs and Mickey Sheats will be the Tiger representatives in the long jump, and Sheats will also compete in the triple jump. Ryan Koontz, Arthur Hinton and Adam Linkenauger will contest the high jump, and Kyle Shaw, Koontz and Mitch Greeley will compete in the pole vault. Hobbs, Koontz and Shaw are scheduled to compete in the shot put, and Danny Alge and Derek Gilson will join Hobbs and Shaw in the discus field. Alge and Gilson will also compete in the hammer throw, and Brandon Holmes will look to improve on his season-best mark in the javelin competition.
