The Clemson men's track & field team has seven student-athletes that rank in the top 15 of the East Region so far this outdoor season. Two additional student-athletes are also ranked as part of a relay team. The rankings were first released by Trackshark.com on Monday evening.
A pair of sprinters rank in the top 10 of their respective events, Corey Brown and Travis Padgett. A red-shirt freshman, Brown is listed sixth in the 200m dash after he posted a time of 21.17 in that event at Georgia Tech last weekend. At that same meet, Padgett won the 100m dash with a time of 10.34, which is listed as the second-best time in the East Region for that event so far this season. Both performers also helped the 4x100m team to a time of 40.28 last weekend as well, which ranks third in the initial East Region rankings. Roy Cheney and Cowin Mills made up the other two slots on that relay team.
Itay Magidi is fifth in the 10,000m after he ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time last weekend at the Stanford Invitational. His time of 29:29.34 ranks as the fifth-best all-time in school history.
In the long jump, freshman George Fields ranks third in the region after he posted a mark of 24'4.5" last weekend at Western Carolina. A pair of pole vaulters rank among the regional leaders, including indoor All-American Mitch Greeley. He cleared 17'2.75" last weekend in the Western Carolina meet and his mark ranks second in the region. Andrew Kessler is listed seventh after he cleared 16'6.75" at the Clemson Relays.
Danny Alge is also listed in the leaders of the hammer throw at 14th overall. He recorded a career-best toss of 195'3" at the Clemson Relays on March 24-25.
The men's team will continue its season this weekend by playing host to the Clemson Invitational on Saturday, April 8. The field events are scheduled to start at 10:00 AM.
