Cullowhee, NC - The Clemson men's cross country team took the top two positions Friday at the Western Carolina Invitational and cruised to an easy victory. The Tigers' victory was delayed because of lightning and rain, but Clemson came out strong following the break.

Clemson had 19 points and all five of its scorers finished inside the event's top eight. Mars Hill was a distant second with 59 points, while host Western Carolina finished third with 74.

Tyler Morey captured the individual title in his first-ever collegiate race. The freshman from Combined Locks, WI had a four-mile time of 20:34.7 and held off fellow Tiger freshman Chad Holt. The Mauldin High School product was right behind at 20:38.5. Veteran harrier Brian Soder was fourth overall with a time of 20:43.7, while red-shirt sophomore Will Noble placed fifth at 20:48.4. Dan Cartica, who red-shirted the 2006 season, placed eighth overall with a time of 20:55.

The next action for the Tigers will be Saturday, September 15 again at Western Carolina.
