The men's track & field team competed in the Orange & Purple Classic at the Rock Norman Complex on Saturday. Three Tigers posted regional-qualifying marks, while two claimed event titles. Mitch Greeley broke the school's outdoor pole vault record, giving him the claim as first in school history in Clemson's indoor and outdoor pole vault ranks.
Cowin Mills ran the 200m for Clemson and was third with a time of 21.60. Mills posted his career-best in the 400m with a time of 47.65, placing fourth. It was the fastest 400m performance for any Tiger this outdoor season.
Brian Knapp was third in the 800m with a time of 1:51.39. Will Noble posted a time of 1:53.66 to finish fifth, while Darrian Hodges was 13th at 1:59.82. Clay Pendleton was sixth in the 1500m run with a time of 3:59.51. It was his season-best in the event. Jay Lumpkins was fifth in the 5000m with a time of 15:54.61, while Sean Reilly pulled up midway through the event.
Roy Cheney was fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.45, while Lydell Perry came home sixth at 14.61. Andy Porter was seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.42, just ahead of Cheney who was eighth (53.44). Rashad Gardner pulled up in that event and did not finish.
George Fields was third in the long jump with a mark of 23'11.5". Greeley cleared 17'5", eclipsing the previous record of 17'4.5" by Jeff Fields (1990). Andrew Kessler was second after posting a regional mark, matching his season-best at 16'6.75". Kenny Knox was fifth after clearing 14'7.25".

The Clemson team will return to action next weekend to take part in the Reebok Invitational in Atlanta, GA.
