Winston-Salem, NC - Clemson's men's track & field team finished in the runner-up spot at the ACC Outdoor Championships held at Kentner Stadium on the Wake Forest campus. The Tigers tallied 119 points overall. It marked the fourth runner-up team finish for Clemson in the last five years at the conference outdoor competition. Florida State won the event for the second consecutive year after totaling 161 points.
Travis Padgett, a freshman from Shelby, NC, won the 100m dash in his first-ever ACC Outdoor meet. In total, Clemson finished with three conference champions and five additional All-ACC performers.
Padgett became the first Tiger to win the 100m at the ACC Outdoor meet since Tye Hill did so in 2004. Padgett posted an incredibly strong performance, running 10.35 into a -1.0 wind. In the 800m, Brian Knapp finished sixth after crossing the finish line in a time of 1:51.95. Will Noble competed in the 1500m final but did not score after posting a time of 3:54.42. Sean Reilly (15:05.72) and Jay Lumpkins (15:31.44) competed in the 5000m run but did not score for the Tigers.
The Tigers' 4x100m relay team was disqualified after an errant third exchange and did not score. The 4x400m relay team of Cowin Mills, Cheney, Porter, and Gardner placed third on Saturday with a time of 3:12.37.
