CORAL GABLES, FL - Three decathletes from the Clemson men's track and field team completed competition at the Miami Hurricane Invitational held this weekend. Brent Hobbs, Ryan Hunter and Ryan Koontz finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Hobbs tallied a career-best 6,888 points, Hunter accumulated another career-best 6,741 points, and Koontz also posted a career-best with 6,709 points.
On the second day of competition, Hobbs finished the 1500m run in 5:26.68, and posted a time of 14.80 in the 110m hurdles. He cleared 13'7" in the pole vault, and threw 127'10" in the discus. Hobbs recorded a throw of 160'7" in the javelin.
Hunter crossed the line in 5:16.09 in the 1500m run, and recorded a time of 15.68 in the 110m hurdles. In the ple vault, Hunter finished second in the event with a clearance of 15'2.75", then finished third in the discus with a mark of 130'10". Hunter also placed third in the javelin with a throw of 158'1".
Koontz ran the 1500m in 4:57.07, and placed third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.25. In the pole vault, Koontz cleared 12'3.25" and recorded a mark of 116'1" in the discus throw. He posted a mark of 134'3" in the javelin throw.
The Clemson men's track and field team returns to action on Mar. 26-27 at the Raleigh Relays.
