Tigers' 4x400m Relay Sets School Record at Iowa State Last Chance Meet

AMES, IA - The Clemson men's track and field team competed at the Iowa State Last Chance Meet held Friday. The Tigers' 4x400m relay team of Jacey Harper, Dwight Thomas, Otto Spain and Ato Modibo set a school record with an automatic qualifying time of 3:06.67, while Modibo, Larry Griffin and Thomas provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships. Griffin moved into Clemson's all-time list in the 60m dash with a provisional qualifying time of 6.70 and a third-place finish. Modibo posted a third-place finish in the 400m, recording a time of 46.60 to provisionally qualify in the event. Spain's time of 47.75 ranks fourth on Clemson's all-time list in the 400m dash. Marcus Hodge recorded a personal-best time in the 800m, narrowly missing the provisional qualifying mark with a time of 1:50.54. In the field events, Terrance McDaniel tied for first in the high jump, clearing a season-best 7'0.25"/2.14m. In the weight throw, Brett Varner recorded a mark of 59'8.25"/18.19m to finish fifth and move into third on Clemson's all-time list in that event. Clemson Complete Results
