Clemson Men's Tennis To Host Spring Classic

CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson men's tennis team will play host this weekend to the annual Clemson Spring Classic at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. On Friday, Clemson will face Maryland at 2:00pm and then St. John's at 7:00pm. The Tigers will then meet West Virginia and Tennessee Tech on Saturday beginning at 9:00am.

Clemson enters this weekend's action with a 3-4 record overall. Friday's match against Maryland will be the Tigers first ACC action of the season. Clemson is 35-13 all-time against Maryland including a 7-0 victory over the Terrapins last season. The Tigers are 8-1 and 6-0 all-time against West Virginia and Tennessee Tech respectively. Friday's meeting with St. Johns will mark the first time the Tigers and Red Storm have met in men's tennis.

This season for the Tigers, freshmen Nathan Thompson and Sander Koning lead the team with six dual singles victories each. Thompson is 10-5 overall in singles while Koning has an impressive 11-3 singles mark overall for the season. In doubles, the duo of Thompson and senior Marko Gojanovic lead the team with five overall victories. Four of their five doubles wins this season have come in dual competition.
