Clemson Men's Tennis Defeats North Carolina In Quarterfinals Of ACC Tournament

RALEIGH, NC - The Clemson men's tennis team defeated North Carolina 4-1 Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship at Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center. The Tigers improve to 23-9 overall this season, while the Tar Heels fall to 11-11 overall. The Tigers will face the winner of the Florida State/Georgia Tech match tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. In singles play, Nathan Thompson defeated Trystan Meniane at number one singles by a score of 7-5, 6-4. At flight three singles, Jarmaine Jenkins posted a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win over Andy Metzler. John Boetsch downed Derek Porter at number four singles by a score of 6-3, 6-0, while Damiisa Robinson was victorious over Daniel Pinchbeck, 6-2, 6-4 at number five singles. In doubles action, North Carolina won at number one and two positions to win the doubles point. Nathan Thompson and Jarmaine Jenkins fell to Meniane and Monroe at number one doubles, 8-6. At flight two doubles, Robinson and Boetsch dropped an 8-5 decision to Boyd and Archer. Koning and Brett Twente defeated Metzler and Pinchbeck at number three doubles by a score of 8-4.
