Clemson Men's Tennis Sweeps Maryland 7-0

COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Clemson men's tennis team swept Maryland 7-0 on Sunday at the Tennis Center in College Park, MD. The Tigers finished regular season play with a 22-9 overall record and a 6-2 mark in ACC play, while the Terrapins end regular season play with a 10-11 overall mark and 0-8 record in the conference. In singles play, Nathan Thompson downed Peirre Rudder at number one singles by a score of 6-2, 6-1. At flight two singles, Sander Koning defeated Troy Demers 6-2, 6-0, while Micah Thompson was victorious over Chris Chiu at number three singles, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6. John Boetsch won a three-set decision (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) over Scott Peters at number four singles, and Damiisa Robinson posted a 6-4, 7-5 win over David Reichsfeld at flight five singles. At number six singles, Ash Misquith defeated Greg Chambers by a score of 6-2, 6-0. In doubles action, the Tigers swept all three positions to win the doubles point. At number one doubles, Nathan Thompson and Misquith downed Demers and Chiu, 8-4. Robinson and Boetsch won an 8-4 decision against Rory Theis and Rudder at number two doubles, while Koning and Brett Twente defeated Peters and Reichsfeld at flight three doubles, 8-4. The Tigers will return to action April 17-20, when Clemson will compete at the ACC Championships. The tournament will be held at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center in Raleigh-Durham, N.C.
