Clemson Men's Tennis Defeats North Carolina 5-2 On Saturday

CLEMSON, SC -The Clemson men's tennis team defeated North Carolina on Saturday by a score of 5-2 at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. The Tigers improve to 19-7 overall and 3-0 in the ACC, while the Tar Heels drop to 7-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference. In singles play, Nathan Thompson dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Trystan Meniane at number one singles. At flight two singles, Micah Thompson fell to Nicholas Monroe by a score of 6-4, 6-3. The Tigers' Sander Koning defeated Derek Porter at number three singles by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Jarmaine Jenkins won a three-set match (6-4, 6-7, 6-3) at flight four singles over Daniel Pinchbeck. Damiisa Robinson was victorious over Andy Metzler at number five singles, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6. At number six singles, Ash Misquith defeated Geoff Boyd at flight six singles by a score of 6-4, 7-6, 7-5. The Tigers won at number one and two doubles to win the team doubles point. Nathan Thompson and Jenkins defeated Meniane and Monroe 8-6 at number one doubles. Robinson and Boetsch won an 8-6 decision over Pinchbeck and Archer at flight two doubles, while Koning and Brett Twente lost to Boyd and Metzler by a score of 9-8 (7-2). The Tigers will face #11 Duke tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
