Clemson Men's Tennis Falls To South Carolina

COLUMBIA, SC - The Clemson men's tennis team fell to South Carolina by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday in Columbia, SC. The Gamecocks improved to 13-2, while the Tigers dropped to 18-7 on the season. In singles action, Nathan Thompson was defeated by Seth Rose at number one singles, 6-3, 6-2. At flight two singles, Sander Koning was victorious over Angelo Niculescu, 4-6, 3-6. Jarmaine Jenkins dropped a three-set match (6-1, 3-6, 7-6) to Marcus Westman at number three singles. At number four singles, Damiisa Robinson fell to Tom Eklund by a score of 6-2, 7-6. John Boetsch posted a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 win over Ben Atkinson at number five singles. At flight six singles, Ash Misquith defeated Geraldo Knorr by a score of 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 (10-2). In doubles play, the Tiger duo of Nathan Thompson and Jenkins defeated Westman and Eklund by a score of 8-5. At number two doubles, Robinson and Boetsch fell to Rose and Atkinson, 8-6. Brett Twente and Koning dropped a 9-8 decision to South Carolina's Niculescu and Knorr at number three doubles. The Tigers will return to action this weekend against North Carolina and Duke. Clemson will play host to the Tar Heels on Saturday at 1:00 PM and play host to the Blue Devils on Sunday, also at 1:00 PM.
