Florida State Downs Clemson

Tallahassee, FL - The 59th-ranked Florida State men's tennis team captured the doubles point and split the six singles match to defeat 47th-ranked Clemson, 4-3. The win brings FSU to 8-8 overall (4-1 in the ACC), while the Tigers drop to 3-13 (0-2 in the ACC).
Florida State took the first point of the match by winning all three doubles matches. Xavier Luscan and Bartosz Koldej teamed to post an 8-6 win at No. 1 over Clemson's 23rd-ranked doubles team of Eric Cohn and Darren Knight. The Seminole tandem of Gustav Bucht and Rodrigo Laub got the 8-3 win over Demiisa Robinson and Marko Gojanovic at No. 2, while Jeff Scarella and Alex Herrera at No. 3 defeated Clemson's Lee Taylor Walker and Jamin Thompson, 8-4, to complete the sweep.
FSU carried the momentum with them into the singles portion of the match. First to add a point on the board for the Seminoles was Gustav Bucht, who won 6-0, 6-4 over Darren Knight at No. 2. The Tigers got a win at No. 3 singles where Marko Gojanovic defeated Romain Jurd, 6-4, 6-3. Xavier Luscan put Florida State ahead 3-1 with a straight set win over Brad Emendorfer at the No. 1 position, 6-2, 6-3. FSU's Rodrigo Laub won the first set against Joe Hopke at No. 5 singles but was down 1-4 in the second set before going on to win 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the match for the Seminoles. The Tigers then rallied to take the remaining two singles matches with Lee Taylor Walker defeating Jeff Scarella at No. 6 by a score of 7-5, 6-1, while Micah Thompson at No. 4 won 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Jarrod Owen.
The Clemson men will now have one day to prepare for their next match as they are scheduled to host 3rd-ranked Duke on Sunday, March 25th at 1:00 p.m.
