Clemson defeat Virginia Tech 4-3

CLEMSON, SC--Derek DiFazio defeated Brandon Corace at number-five singles 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 and clinched the match in giving Clemson a 4-3 win over Virginia Tech in a men's Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis match at Clemson, SC Friday afternoon. With the win, Clemson is now 12-11 overall and 1-3 in the ACC. Virginia Tech drops to 9-4 overall, and 2-2 in league play. Clemson won the doubles point and had a 1-0 lead over the Hokies. The Tigers took a 2-0 advantage when Ike Belk defeated Sebastien Jacques at number-four singles, 6-0, 6-3. Virginia Tech won at number-two singles as Nicolas Delgado defeated Gera Boryachinskiy 6-4, 6-2. The Tigers won the next two singles matches. At number-six singles, Kevin Galloway defeated Virginia Tech's Ignaci Roca 7-6, 1-6, 6-2. DiFazio won at number-five singles to give the Tigers a 4-1 advantage. Virginia Tech won the last two singles matches on the courts. Albert Larregola defeated Clemson's Carlos Alvarez at number one singles 3-6, 7-6, 6-4. Yoann Re won over the Tigers' Kevin Fleck at number-three singles, 6-7, 6-3, 6-1. Clemson will play host to number-one ranked Virginia on Sunday, March 23, at the Tigers' Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m.
