CLEMSON, SC -- Daniel Vallverdu defeated Carlos Alvarez at number one singles and clinched the match as number 24th-ranked Miami defeated Clemson 4-3 in an Atlantic Coast Conference men's tennis match at Clemson, SC Sunday afternoon.

With the win, Miami improves to 8-2 overall, and 2-0 in the ACC. The Tigers fall to 9-8 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Clemson won the doubles point including a win by Derek DiFazio and Ike Belk at the number-one position over Daniel Vallverdu and Carl Sundberg 9-8.

Miami won three other singles matches to claim the match. Keith Crowley won at number-five over Difazio 6-1, 6-3, and Sundberg won at number-four singles with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Belk. Miami's David Rosenfeld defeated Gera Boryachinskiy at number-two singles 6-2, 6-1 for Miami's third singles victory.

Clemson's Kevin Fleck defeated Vivek Subramanian at number-three singles 6-2, 7-5 and Kevin Galloway defeated the Hurricane's J.C. Whitner at the number-six position 6-4, 6-3.

Clemson will play host to Harvard and Brevard in a double header on Monday, March 10th. The Tigers will play Harvard at 10:00 a.m. and Brevard at 5:00 p.m.
