ATLANTA, GA -- Georgia Tech's Scott Blackmon defeated Derek DiFazio 6-1, 7-6 at number-four singles in clinching the match and leading the Yellow Jackets to a 4-3 win over Clemson in an Atlantic Coast Conference men's tennis match at Atlanta, GA Tuesday evening.

With the win, Georgia Tech improves to 9-2 on the year, while Clemson falls to 9-7 this season. This was the first Atlantic Coast Conference match for both teams this season.

After winning the doubles point, Guillermo Gomez put Georgia Tech ahead 2-0 after his win over Gera Boryachinskiy at number two singles 6-4, 6-3. David North won at number one singles with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Clemson's Carlos Alvarez to put Georgia Tech ahead 3-0.

At number three singles, Clemson's Kevin Fleck defeated Eliot Potvin 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 to make the score 3-1.

Blackmon claimed the match for Georgia Tech with his win at number four singles.

Clemson pick up two team points in the last two matches of the day as Ike Belk defeated Ryan Smith of Georgia Tech at number five singles 7-6, 6-3. The Tigers' Kevin Galloway defeated Doug Kenny 4-6, 6-1, 7-6.

Georgia Tech has now won the last two meetings in the series. Clemson has won four of the last seven matches with Georgia Tech. It is also one of the oldest series for the Clemson tennis program as the two teams started meeting in 1925. Clemson still leads the overall series 26-22.

The Tigers will play host to ACC-foe Miami on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center in Clemson's next action.
